D Shoe | Effects Of High Heels - When I was going to school I have great desire to wear the high heel shoes of my mother. But it is like the forbidden fruit for me. My mom always denied that I will wear high heel shoes in that age. She often told me the reason that by wearing high heel shoes your growing height will stop and you will remain dwarf. I could not understand the real facts at that times and always tried to wear her high heel shoes and walked like the models on ramp. Now I have option to wear what I want but I prefer to wear the flat or flip flop unless and until have very formal occasion to wear the high heels and have no choice for the flat shoes.
There are many discomforts I feel in wearing high heel shoes as:
STRESS ON JOINTS:
It creates a great stress on foot joints. As we know that all of our body weight rests on our feet and these feet are forced to be enclosed in narrow UN balanced toe box. It will make the feet muscles, tendons and ligaments inflamed with great stress on feet joints. According to the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, we take 10,000 steps in each day and the high heels shift all the pressure at the ball of the foot and on the bones at the base of the toe. This pressure is 3 to 6 times more then the normal stress.
LOWER BACK PAIN:
To lift yourself high and look elegant is the wish of all of us but to lift in an unnatural way completely throws your balance out the door and you have to pay for this in form of pain in back, shoulders and spinal chord. Sometimes this bad posture results in the severe and permanent pain in lower back.
KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS:
It is the degenerative painful problem caused by the breakdown of cartilage surrounding the knee joints. As the high heels produce the pressure and stress on knee joints and damage occur in them that can not be recovered.
EFFECTS ON CALF MUSCLES:
Calf muscles are mostly affected by adjusting the pressure exerted by the high heel, and they become shortened and tightened. These suffer much from foot wear styles.
With all these the high heels causes the risk of feet injuries, Achilles tendon, bunions, metatarselgia, hammertoes and ankle injuries. So it is pretty good idea to change your shoe style to flat or low heels.
